Astrology

earth Astrology is basically the study of the movement and positions of the celestial bodies, i.e. the Sun, the Moon, the planets, asteroids, etc. against the backdrop of distant constellations and stars in the Universe. black hole

Astrology appears to have developed independently in various civilisations; evidence shows that astrologers have practiced their art for at least 5000 years. China developed its own system of astrology, Vedic astrology developed in India and the Maya of central America also used astrology as demonstrated in their celebrated Mayan Calendar.

The astrology that developed in ancient Mesopotamia, now known as the Middle East, was then passed to the Greeks and incorporated into the Hellenistic astrology and later exported to the West. Although astrology has never ceased to evolve, the basic tenants of teaching, universally in use, were used by astrologers thousands of years ago.

In ancient times astrologers were considered wise men (including those who visited the newly born Jesus having seen portents in the sky, possibly a comet or a conjunction between Jupiter and Saturn, and from that deducted the birth place ~ the modern equivalent would probably be a combination of Mundane (event) Astrology and Astrolocality (place). In more modern times there has been much debate about whether the planets and stars could really have an effect on what happens here on Earth.

"As Above, So Below"  ~ Hermes Trismegistus

From a scientific perspective it is known that the Sun brings heat, life and life to planet Earth and that the Moon orbiting the Earth exerts a strong gravitational pull causing the phenomenon of the Tide Generating Force. The Moon, particularly the Super Moon, is known to have an impact on our weather and on our emotional well-being and behaviour, known as the Lunar Effect. Astrologers' believe that other planets in our Solar System, and indeed beyond, also have an impact on everything manifest or physical.

Albert Einstein was a theoretical physicist, renowned for his Theory of Relativity. In later life he worked on his most ambitious theory ~ the Unified Field Theory, or the Theory of Everything. When proven it will link the interaction of all physical phenomena and matter. Einstein died before discovering such a theory but others, such as Stephen Hawking, have been inspired to take up the challenge. In my own opinion it is probable that physicists, particularly those investigating Quantum Physics, are closer to discovering the Truth of what IS, than many theologians from the main religions.

Although the Theory of Everything has not yet been discovered it does indicate that modern scientific minds acknowledge that the stars, planets, Earth and all of Creation are part of an interconnected Whole. This is what all great esoteric teachers have taught throughout time.

Correctly used astrology is a valuable tool, one of many, for discovering our more earthly qualities; our ego, personality, beliefs, behaviour patterns, survival systems and our potential. With astrological techniques it is also possible to predict probable events in the future, both individual and en mass. For example, many astrologers have been predicting the on-going economic developments, or crisis, for many years (proof of this can be seen in Christeen Skinner's excellent book "The Financial Universe" published in 2004). However, I have come to believe that although the planets, and indeed our environment, can indeed influence us and our lives, it is possible for us ~ indeed desirable, for us to transcend astrology and all physical limitations.

Most scientists and astrologers study mechanisms, they look at physical bodies or phenomena for "proof" and "facts". This may perhaps create problems, or illusions, because we are not just physical, we are Spirit. I have also discovered that astrology gives accurate information of past lives, lessons to be learned and much more.  These findings have been confirmed in hundreds of readings.

We cannot prove conclusively that consciousness survives physical death. Yet many people from all cultures and countries have had near death experiences, or more recently have been resuscitated after death, and described similar experiences of ecstasy, light, continued existence that scientific research into these phenomena became almost inevitable. Some people have "memory" of other incarnations (Dr. Ian Stevenson did much research on this from the 1960's, working mainly with young children).

I ask you, for now at least, to accept that we are more than just physical matter and an accident of nature. Even amongst those who accept that we have a Soul, or are spirit, many view this as solely being a human condition. Consider that Spirit is energy; the spark that caused the Big Bang, the force behind everything manifest, including our universe. Take this another step and consider that this energy is conscious; an intelligent force. Then take another step into the realm of the esoteric or invisible realities. Consider that the energy of and behind everything physical is the energy known as God (an over-worked word), the Absolute, Infinite, Everything-That-IS.

This would mean that everything that you see and touch each day, every circumstance, every person that you meet, all the people you don't meet, every insect, flower, tree, bird and animal, every blade of grass, meadow, hill, mountain, lake and ocean, every planet and star in the Universe is of the same energy ~ God, or Everything-That-IS.

All of these people, events and experiences, everything that you come into contact with are drawn to you by the Law of Attraction.  "Every person, all the events in your life are there because you have drawn them there. What you choose to do with them is up to you." Richard Bach.

You become what you focus on. If you focus on the physical world, negativity, what is wrong with everyone and everything, then you take on that energy. If you focus your attention on other people, perhaps as a spiritual advisor or therapist, then you take on their energy. Energy flows like water ~ none of us are energetically individual.

There is only one perfect and safe haven for the focus of your consciousness or attention and that is in the Source, in God; Everything-That-IS.

"Be in the world, but not of it"  or perhaps:  "Seek not to change the world, but choose to change your mind about the world".

Use your intellect to remind yourself every day, perhaps mornings and evenings in the beginning, then every hour, and then every moment, to rest the laser beam of your consciousness in the Source of Everything-That-Is.

This is where you will find, and attract to your self, Peace, Understanding, Joy, Harmony and perfect Love.
